My Homeschool Grades

My Home School Grades is a grade tracking software to keep track of your children's grades over the years.

A few things that I love about this software...

*The company was created by a homeschool dad and a recent homeschool college graduate, how awesome is that!  These guys certainly know what we need and don't need when it comes to grade keeping!

*There is a lot of preloaded curriculum in the system to pick from to make adding grades easier, or you can add your own if it's not in there.  (they are still adding new curriculum all the time).

*You have many options to makes this work for your family, my favorite is the Pass/fail option.  For instance, since my daughter is only in 3rd grade we don't specifically need a number grade, so for science and history we simply use the pass/ fail option.

*Have a high schooler?  Need a transcript?  No problem!  My Home School Grades has made that easy and effortless for you!!  It's really just as simple as the click of a button!  When you enter your courses you can pick if they are credit courses and how many credits each of them are.

(I guess I'm way beyond "a few" things I love, huh??)

* Not only can you enter your child's work from this year forward, you can enter past years as well!!  As you can see in the picture below, I have put in our grades for all of the 2012/2013 school year and am starting to get our 2013/2014 school year planned out!!

*For one price you get this software for all of your children, so whether you have one child or 10 you pay the same price!!  I think this is a great price for one child, so I can only imagine the savings with multiple children.  You can sign up for a free 14 day trial to see how you like it before purchasing it!

*The cost is only $49.95 for a LIFETIME membership to includes all updates, how awesome is that?!?!

*wondering if this will work on your computer, iPad, android, Mac, etc?  Have no fear, My Home School Grades has thought of that, my dear!  (It's almost midnight as I type this, I have to show my sense of humor off sometimes). This program will work on all platforms that I have seen so far!  I use it on my iPad and on my windows PC and it works great on both!

*when adding grades, this software will do the math for you!!  If you put the grade in as a fraction, example...13/15 the software will then change it to the correct number grade for you!!  If you are like me, you probably have a big smile on your face knowing that's one little thing you won't have to worry about!!

*My Homeschool Grades offers many video tutorials to make using their software so easy!

I don't have anything bad to say about this program, it is really perfect just how it is!  Simple, affordable, and created for Homeschooling families, I couldn't have asked for more!

The Waterproof Bible!!

Yep, you did read that right, The Waterproof Bible is just what its name says, and boy is it!  We, of course, had to test this Bible to the extreme (although it was a bit awkward throwing my Bible in the bathtub).

We reviewed The Waterproof Bible New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs ESV.  This Bible now stays in my bathroom on the side of my tub, I have a wonderful Book to read while Calgon takes me away!  (If you are a mom, you get that!!). We gave this bible a good test in our whirlpool tub, not only is it waterproof; but it floats, you can still write in it, highlight passages, and carry it to church and bible study with you (great conversation starter there, huh?).  If your kids get their dirty, sticky hands on it, have no fear, it cleans right off.  The synthetic pages are quite durable, I even gave it a rip test!

There it is sitting on the side of my tub.

This great bible comes in multiple colors, even a camo cover for our loved ones in the military, we know they go through quite the terrain.  In fact, when I found out I would be reviewing this bible, the first thing I said was, "what a great product this will be for our deployed soldiers AND for missionaries"!!  My husband was in the Army, and this would have been wonderful for him when he was out in the field!  Do you have a loved one deployed?  Think of how much they would love to open up a care package with this inside it!

All in all, wonderful product, I will be ordering the full Bible (in pink, of course), and will be talking about this bible for many years to come!  If you have been to my house in the last month, you can attest that I show it to everyone that comes over!

A few photos of testing this Bible.
There it is floating in the water!  Yep, it floats too!

Soaking wet and still feels the same!

See that, the pages are soaked and it's in perfect condition!

Oh, you might be asking, how does it dry, what about mold, does it stain?  Those were my questions, but I am pleased to say that when you stand this bible up on its spine with the pages slightly open, it dries in about 24 hours fully, we have no stains and no mold/mildew to my surprise!
Sitting on a towel on the edge of the tub to dry!  (oh that bookmark you see, waterproof too!!)

You can purchase this great Bible from Bardin & Marsee Publishing, the prices range from $24.95-$44.95 depending on which one you choose.

Saving Memories Forever App

Saving Memories Forever is an app available on the Apple or Android market for having an audio of family memories. You can add story tellers, ask questions from a lot of preset questions, record answers, etc.

This is a Free app for their basic service, or for more options and to have the ability to add photos to your stories you can purchase a subscription for 3.99 a month, or $40 a year.  This comparison will give you an idea of what you will get with the free app compared to the paid subscription.

When you log on to the app, you pick a name (or create one for a new story teller) and then you pick an age to have them tell you about.

Once you pick the age, there are preset questions to be able to ask your story teller about, family, life, etc.

Unfortunately for me, I don't live near any of my family (other than my daughter and husband, of course) and I wasn't able to use this on family.  I think it would be really nice if Saving Memories were to add an option to be able to type in responses from story tellers, to be able to ask them questions over the phone for people like me who do not live close to the families.  I would definitely recommend trying out the Free app and seeing what you think about it, and if you like it, grab their premium subscription so that you can add photos and have unlimited story tellers/listeners!

I used this app on my iPad and it worked well on the iPad, I didn't have any issued getting it to open or work.  I think this is a really neat program for family to use, I sure wish something like this would have been around when I was little, my father passed away when I was 6 and I would give anything to have an audio of his voice telling stories about his life and about me, and for my daughter to be able to hear her grandfathers voice and listen to him tell stories, that in itself would be priceless!

I will be taking a trip in June to see my family, and will try and use it more then and give an update.
